The Gift of the New Year

We all have gifts to give...be it a smile, friendship, teaching, sharing, cooking - to name a few. Somewhere along the line, I have become convinced that deserving or not, I have been given some tools that I must share. Mine are lifecoaching, life planning, giving retreats, and poetry. I can't help it. It's my passion. It's my purpose. I'm convinced it's what I need to be doing and I'm happiest when I'm doing them. These gifts have evolved along the years, having been first used for my own personal growth. And now my life has been so touched by them, I'm convinced I must share.

My gift to you is this poem to start your New Year now that you're back into the routine and may be wondering if the holidays were enough to sustain you on the path you're on...

The Path of the New Year

As I look into the new year,
I look back at what I know is life...
Always a mixture of
pleasures and strife.

Surviving and thriving -
the world has good and bad.
Beauty and ugliness -
there are both to be had.

That's how it's designed -
a journey for the strong.
And as we venture forth,
it shouldn't be long

Before we see we need
a shepherd, a constant guide.
For there is one who has promised
to be by our side.

And all we must do
as we look out at the road
Is to allow our Savior
to carry our load -

To stay very close,
and let Him lead.
He walks beside us
in every need.

And though the road is long,
and we stumble on our way,
All He asks is to remember that

at our side He will stay.

He wants us to depend on Him,
not to venture out alone.
He wants to share each joy,
as well as every groan.

And so as I set out
on the path of this New Year,
I renew my commitment
to give Him every fear.

To walk with Him closely,
that's all He's required -
To stop and lean on Him
when confused or sad or tired.

So, though I can't know
what this year may bring -
Sorrows or pain
or reasons to sing...

I know the one thing
that will serve me best on my way
Is to allow Him to guide
and closer by His side to stay.

So this year, as I say Happy New Year, what I really want to say is that I hope you are giving the gifts you've been given. And if you personally, or someone you know, is in need of a gift, please know that I've spent my life wrapping these particular gifts and I'd love to share them:

* LIFE PURPOSE COACHING: a 10 week personal or over-the-phone series of
conversations focused on clarifying your life's direction

* LIFE PLAN FACILITATION
:
a 2-day intensive retreat designed to refresh, renew, and redirect - a spiritual spa for your soul!

* CREAM for Your COFFEE: a devotional poetry book that has short but powerful messages that address the full range of human emotion - a perfect way to invite God into a coffee break - or into a friend's life.

Blessings in your New Year,
Sherrill
